  • Special Message for all Time Warner and Bright House Cable Subscribers

Attention Time Warner or Bright House cable subscribers:

FEARnet has been dropped from your cable line-up and you no longer have on-demand, 24/7 access to our library of horror, thriller and suspense movies.

If you want to once again see FEARnet on your cable system, your cable operator needs to hear from you. Call 1-877-FEAR-247, we'll connect you with your operator and you can let them know you want FEARnet back.

For more details, check out this news article.

  • What Can I do to Help Bring Fearnet Back to Time Warner

What can I do to help Bring Back Fearnet to Time Warner

I called to complain and was told Fearnet went out of business

Called a second time and was told all the programs are still there on thriller on demand

Then went to online chat and was told they have no info and that my complaint will be escallated (what ever that means)

When I tried the number on your site and get to the point to press 1 for cable- your recording says I don't have on-demand and hangs up on me-???

All I want is Fearnet back on my cable!! (I pay enough for what I got already)

Please what can I do to help!!!

  • Thanks to everyone for calling!

Markfearnetfan, thanks for trying again (and again and again) to let Time Warner know how much you want FEARnet back.  It sounds like you were able to let the know via online chat.

I'm not sure how our 877 number works, but I think it figures out where you are based on your phone number.  So it's possible if you're calling from an office or with a cell phone from another area code, it might make a mistake.

Witchywife, thanks to you too.  If you're looking for more ways to help, you could ask friends and neighbors who also love horror movies to call too.

Again, thanks to everyone who is helping us get the word out.  We want to back on your cable box as quickly as possible, and every voice helps!

  • Depression. . .

Calling didn't work for me, I did the online chat and got a very cold "we don't carry that channel anymore." So I just canceled my digital cable because of that. I told them (not like they cared) that FearNet is the only reason I'd ever pay over $100 a month for shitty cable and now that it isn't there, it isn't worth it... so i canceled it. Screw Brighthouse.

    Le_Romantique,

Thanks for calling and sorry to hear you got the brush-off from Time Warner.

If you're considering other options, AT&T's U-Verse and Verizon's FIOS might be available in your area, and both carry FEARnet.  They often offer good deals for new subscribers and might be worth looking in to.

And in the meantime, I hope you take advantage of all the great movies we're streaming for free here on the site.

Thanks so much for your support!

  • NO FEARNET

I TOO EMAILED, CALLED, AND EVEN WROTE A LETTER TO ROBERT WARSON, VP OF PROGRAMMING. NOT ONE WORD OF TRUTH CAME OUT OF THIS. I AM NOT ONLY TOTALLY UPSET ABOUT IT NOT BEING OFFERED, BUT MADDER THAN HELL THAT THEY SKIP AROUND THE TRUTH. I WANT TO KNOW WHY IT IS OFF. MUST BE MONEY. IF THEY TAKE OFF FEARNET THEY ARE HOPING TO GET MORE MONEY BECAUSE THE CUSTOMER WILL RESORT TO BUYING MOVIES ON DEMAND, WHICH I DO WHEN SOMETHING GOOD IS ON. I AM REALLY MAD AND UPSET. FEARNET WAS SOOOO GOOD. HORROR MOVIES ARE THE ONLY KIND OF SHOWS I LOVE. I WATCH MY FAVS ALL MONTH AND SO LOOKED FORWARD TO SEE WHAT NEW ONES COME OUT ON THE FIRST OF THE MONTH. I WATCHED THE DESCENT SO MANY TIMES. I LOVED THE PLOT, ACTRESSES WITH THEIR ACCENTS AND THE FUNNY WAY THEY SAID THINGS SUCH AS"YOU"RE HAVING A LAUGH WHEN THEY GOT TO THE EDGE OF THE CAVE. MEANING LIKE WE WOULD SAY, YOU"VE GOT TO BE KIDDING. IT WAS GREAT. I DON';T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. I KEEP EMAILING TIME WARNER AND ALL I GET IS THE SAME REPLY ABOUT WHAT GREAT SHOWS THERE IS ON TIME WARNER. ARE YOU KIDDING? LIKE I AM GOING TO WATCH HALLMARK OR TNT OR LMN. SO CORNY AND BORING I CAN;T EVEN STAND TO LISTEN TO THEM. I AM GOING CRAZY KNOWING THERE ARE NEW MOVIES SHOWING THIS MONTH THAT I WILL NOT GET TO SEE. ITS MAKING ME NUTS.

Perhaps if we all wrote to this Warson character, VP of programming, it would help.  There seems to be no lack of aspiring writers here. Can you forward me the contact info? Is there anyone else who might actually care or do something about getting Fearnet back on?  E-mail and calling seems pretty futile at this point.

  • Re: Special Message for all Time Warner and Bright House Cable Subscribers

This is the first reply I received from Time Warner:

Thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable Email Support.

I understand that you want to see the Fearnet channel.

I apologize for the inconvenience, and I will do my best to address this issue.

Due to our current deal expiring on midnight of 3/31/09, FEARnet will no longer be providing content
to TWC. This means, we had to remove all content from the following areas of our VOD platform:
Cutting Edge On Demand, Free Movies On Demand, HD Showcase .

Note that we will continue to have the following providers where you can find similar content:

Free Movies On Demand, Hallmark, RHI Showcase, Sundance, TBS, TNT, Turner Classic Movies, Movies On
Demand Thriller , HD Showcase On Demand, Sundance, FX

We value you as a customer.

Once I stopped laughing at their idiotic statement that I could find similar content on Hallmark, RHI Showcase or Turner Classic Movies, I wrote back and them know what I thought of this load of bs. In the reply I was also told my issue had been escalated as it required further research.

BTW, I've sent a copy of their reply to The Hallmark Channel, just as a point of interest.  Thought the good folks over there might want to know that Time Warner considers their content similar to Fearnet.  LOL!

  • Re: Special Message for all Time Warner and Bright House Cable Subscribers

<p>I'M SURE some of you have emailed Brighthouse/Time Warner and got the same response I did. I decided to translate the email to reflect what the company really means (their message in quotes):<br />"Thank you for your correspondence regarding your Bright House Networks service. As of April 1, 2009, we no longer have content available from FearNet."<br /><br />IN OTHER WORDS: OK, you got us. We know that you know, and we didn't tell you about it beforehand. We prefer to give you bad news after the fact.<br /><br />"This programmer only provides On Demand content; there is no corresponding linear channel."<br /><br />THIS MEANS: We don't know what else to tell you in hopes that you're dense. We have lots of channels that are On Demand only that have no corresponding channel either (like Anime Network &amp; RipeTV) but we figure we would stick this in here to make the station look weak.<br /><br />"Bright House Networks is proud of the abundance of Video content available for On Demand viewing. Video On Demand content is constantly updated to maintain the quality and variety of programming our customers depend on."<br /><br />SO THIS IS SAYING that Brighthouse and Time Warner are feeling the constant burn of Satellite and other competitive services. If the bottom line means dollar vs. customer satisfaction, they will always take the dollar. If the dollar affects quality and especially "variety", again, they take the dollar. Except, or course, if it's a pompous sports channel like Big Ten Network, then they'll fold.<br /><br />&nbsp;"Behind the scenes, we work with hundreds of programmers to supply our Video On Demand content, and occasionally we have changes in which programmers we elect to offer content from."<br /><br />WELL, REALLY,&nbsp; it comes down to one person to decide which program to keep in your company, and that's Melinda Witmer. She decides what comes and goes (though not always the final say). So "hundreds of programmers" is really her and two guys with a contract by phone. Was it really that hard to do?<br /><br />"We would like to suggest other possible sources of the same type of programming that may appeal to you. Some of possible sources would be our own Free Movies OnDemand channel , CHILLER TV (on Bright House Networks Digital Channel 177) , Sundance ,TBS, TNT , and Turner Classic Movies, SciFi just to name a few."<br /><br />CHANNELS LIKE Chiller TV doesn't hold a candle to what Fearnet does. TBS, TNT and the others are not the same. Sundance sometimes does show a good horror, but that's not their forte, and lately, they only have had so few choices, it's not even worth it.<br /><br />"Your email has been forwarded to our programming department for consideration regarding the addition of the FearNetwork OnDemand content back. While we are proud of the fact that we offer a wider variety of channels than any other provider in the area, we are also aware that our customers want the best programming possible."<br /><br />I USED TO WORK in customer emails with a cable tv company &amp; got emails like this everytime. Where I worked, there wasn't a programming department, yet we were told to tell customers that we were happily forwarding the letter to that department. Maybe Brighthouse and TW have such a department, but I doubt it. Having a staff for a programming costs money, it's easier to just pay one person to do it all. They won't be peeking into hundreds of emails to let them know what customers want, all they want to know is the budget and programming costs. Customer needs are thrown out the door.<br /><br />&nbsp;<br />"For our latest channel line up, please keep checking our website at the website below:<br />http://www.cfl.mybrighthouse.com/products_and_pricing/digital_cable/programming/channels/default.aspx<br />If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us via email. Thank you for taking the time to write to us and have a great day."<br /><br />I GUESS I DO HAVE MORE QUESTIONS. Why was it removed? Was it a contract disagreement? Does Brighthouse/TW think there was not enough people watching? Did a soccer mom of 4 kids call in and complain about the "horrors" her innocent children were watching?<br />Unfortunately, these are questions that regular technical support from the ecare unit would not be capable of answering. They don't have the answers, &amp; customer support doesn't know why either. They are poorly paid people who have no control over the how and why... they only sit there and receive our complaints and given copy pasta to answer these ques.<...

So calling doesn't work, unless they get hundreds of calls a day with the same topic. Emailing to customer support doesn't work either, unless you email the head honchos, but again, only if it's done in unison by a large amount of people, for a long period of time. Writing a letter is probably best, if it signed by 30,000 folks who would be ready and willing to disconnect service.  The squeaky wheel...

So what to do? Fearnet has to do more then make a video on their website saying to call a number and have them patched through to your cable company. They have to be willing to help set up fan base websites, advertise, & use guerrilla communication. Several of us leader types are going to have to be willing to picket, talk to the media, and send all kinds of (professional) letters to the right people, ad nauseum. And the perhaps we may have a CHANCE to get somewhere. Until this happens, I'd hate to say that all those phone calls are really going nowhere.

Well one of the things my wife and I liked to do was at least twice a week sit down and watch a great (ok sometimes not so great lol) movie on fear.net.  Needless to say we were pissed off when we found out, without any notice, that fear.net was taken off of timewarner cable in central ny.

I have emailed and called time warner and gotten a fairly apethic no-repsonse from them and due to the fact there is no other service for cable and internet in my area I'm kinda stuck.  If I had an option I would cancel my service with timewarner right now.  Hell, thats pretty much the only thing we watch together on tv anyways as we just dont have much time working fulltime, ect ect.

I registered on this site to let you know we're trying but Im surprised at the lack of anything substantial on this site as far as trying to remedy this situation.  The 877 number you have says I dont have vod in my area based on my home phone number, which is provided by timewarner...  I couldnt even find anyway to contact anyone who runs this site.

That being said WE WANT OUR FEAR.NET BACK!!!!  Please start organizing something that will get results, not a phone number that doesnt even work.  Contact me and I'll do what I can, if anyone reading has ideas (and no, stalking the executives like they are teens at crystal lake is NOT an option) on how to fix this problem or can start a letter campaign, petition anything contact me and we'll get involved.

I will let time warner know that I will never purchase and VOD services and as soon as verizon is in town we will be switching all of our service over to then unless Fear.net is brought back.  Whos with me????
